Elementary Campus Opening Reception

Khabele-Brodie-211 Last Friday we celebrated the opening of our new Elementary campus building. The rain hit just as people began to arrive, but it passed quickly and could not dampen anyone’s enthusiasm for the beautiful new space.

Virginia Luff, our Head of Elementary, welcomed the crowd and introduced architect Tim Derrington, who spoke about the design and inspiration for the building. Board Trustee Kat Jones recognized our fantastic contractor team from American Constructors, who persevered through 29 rain days to get the building completed and open in August.

Head of School Ted Graf recognized the hard work and leadership of Elementary Campus Manager Jote Khalsa, Virginia Luff, and Head of Operations Lori Lankford.

In closing, Ted offered these words: “In 1992, my wife Amy and I were married in a cornfield in Wisconsin, and during the reception in her parents’ backyard, the heavens opened and we danced in the rain and mud. We interpreted that rain as an omen of hope and plenty to come. So, let’s see today’s rain that way as we open this beautiful building and we endeavor together to grow our dear school.”

The reception was catered by el Locavore and photographed by Michelle Gardella Photography. See the photo slideshow below!
