Fall MS Musical: Willy Wonka Junior



 

It is hard to live in America and not have a relationship to the story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; the story, characters, and even songs pervade our common culture across generations.  According to biographer Donald Sturrock, author Roald Dahl experienced two tragedies during the years in which he was writing the original book.  One of his kids experienced a terrible car accident, and another contracted encephalitis.  As a result, Sturrock posits, Dahl infused his desire for delightful invention and the success of magic into the character of Willy Wonka.  Truly, he created a world in which in the midst of all tragedy, anything is possible.

Whatever your relationship to the story is, we hope you find in this version that you are put in touch with your own limitless imagination and power to see sweetness through any storm.

Performances will be held at Boyd Vance Theater in the Carver Center (1165 Angelina Street, Austin, 78702) for three performances:

  • Friday, November 17 at 7:00pm
  • Saturday, November 18 at 3:00pm
  • Saturday, November 18 at 7:00pm

There is no price for admission and seats are first come, first serve.

All ages are welcome and the show is projected to last about an hour and fifteen minutes.

Willy Wonka Junior is directed by Alexis Scott, a talented local director and actor who is directing her first middle school production with us. She is joined by Marc Lionetti as Musical Director. Stage Design is being curated by Mandy Ziegler.
