EAST 2017



Big Medium’s East Austin  Studio Tour (EAST) is a free, annual, self-guided art event spanning across two weekends in November– November 11-12 and 18-19. EAST provides opportunities for the public to meet the local artists and artisans of Austin in their creative spaces.

River Art Guide, John Mulvany, helped design this year’s book. John also has ben featured as one of the Austin Chronicle’s top six picks for this EAST. John shared the following:

Our design theme this year driven by the importance of supporting regional artists and the spaces they live and work in. Land stewardship is key to a healthy landscape and creativity needs the same stewardship for a healthy artistic ecosystem. Also, due to the current global political climate, we feel it’s important to promote symbols of peace and prosperity.
 
As a result, we are focusing on native flowering plants. Each flower illustration is created by an artist from our programming.  The goal is to celebrate what our community has to offer – both in flora and in creativity.
Pick up a book at any Austin Public Libraries while they last and don’t miss these stops:
  • EAST Community Breakfast– Brannon Via, Creek Art Guide, will be performing with Animal Facts Club at 10:00am on 11/11 AND at 6:30pm they will be premiering 6 new short videos
