Headwaters School honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on this meaningful day.
Today, we reflect on Dr. King's work toward racial equity and equality during the modern civil rights movement. As a community committed to embracing diversity, we encourage our community to celebrate MLK Day with service and reflection.
 
There are ways to honor Dr. King's legacy by working towards a more just and equitable society right here in Austin. Please note today's weather has affected many programs scheduled for today, causing them to be rescheduled. You can learn more below:

1/15/24: MLK Day Annual March, Festival, and Food Drive

**March Cancelled and Festival Postponed Due to Inclement Weather**

Due to Extreme Weather Conditions and in interest of protecting the public from extended outdoor exposure, Monday’s march has been cancelled. The Festival and Food Drive will be rescheduled for Saturday, January 27 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Huston-Tillotson University. Learn more here.

1/21/24: MLK Day of Service Creek Cleanup
**Rescheduled for Sunday, January 21 due to weather**
Join Austin Families in Nature for a morning of community service in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. day. Pack your gloves or borrow some of theirs and help clean up the green spaces and waterways around Gustavo "Gus" L. Garcia District Park in northeast Austin. Register Now! If you can't make it, lead your own trash clean up in your neighborhood or at your favorite park!

1/27: RESCHEDULED | MLK Day Festival and Food Drive
Due to inclement weather, the MLK Community Festival has been rescheduled for Saturday, January 27th; it will include all types of vendors and local musical artists to make this year’s celebration the best ever! Learn more by visiting the Heritage Council's website here.
