Bring your family, your friends, and your frolic to the grassy shores of Onion Creek for the Headwaters School 2nd Annual Fall Community Picnic on Sunday, October 1 from 3 to 7 pm.

Head out 1826 toward the Salt Lick. Pass the Salt Lick and turn left at the dead end on FM 150. Go 2.7 miles and turn left into the gate (green with stacked stone). Look for a red street sign that says “Drift Along Way.” Follow the main paved road about 1.5 miles, across the creek, to a dead end at a big field. Turn left following the small “Moncrieff” sign. Follow that gravel road about 1 mile down to Onion Creek to park inside the green gate.

**Note: This is a private road and some mapping programs won’t work (Google Maps does work). The ranch is 10 minutes past the Salt Lick and just past (on the south side of Onion Creek) Trattoria Lisina/Duchman Winery in Driftwood.

Royal Fig Catering, owned by Headwaters parents Dan and Kristen Stacy, is a scratch kitchen, creating upscale American comfort food using fresh, local ingredients from organic and sustainable farms throughout the Austin area. Picnic packages serve four and were pre-sale only through September 25. The family picnic pack serves a family of 4, and contains vegan green bean salad, vegan slaw, ice tea/water, and watermelon. Choose fried chicken, roasted chicken or a vegan entree.

Hamburgers, veggie burgers, and hot dogs from Freddy’s will be available for purchase on a first come first serve basis on site. Sheila and John Prescott of East Austin Eats will be hosting a PVC tent with Cold Ones Artisan Paletas, Pop-tails, and Austin’s Pizza, quantities are limited for these on-site sales.


Online RSVP has ended, but you can still show up! Just know that you will make a quick stop at the gate to sign a waiver.
