Headwaters Students Explore SCAD’s Aether at F1 Weekend

Headwaters School
During F1 weekend, Headwaters students had the chance to experience Savannah College of Art and Design’s (SCAD) Aether, a fully functional all-electric concept car designed and built by SCAD’s industrial design students.
Not just a concept, Aether—alongside its counterpart, Tyr—was engineered with 3D-printed parts, a working battery, and motors, making it road-ready.

In a recent article, SCAD Professor Rafael Corazza Ronchetti described Aether as a sports car focused on speed and the joy of driving, while Tyr embodies freedom and adventure. Both cars cater to a younger generation excited about sustainable design.

Aether made a special visit to our campus, offering a presentation by Professor Ronchetti and a SCAD alum who worked on the project. Students and parents had the opportunity to ask questions, take photos, and learn more about this groundbreaking creation.

Check out our photo album from the event and read more about Aether’s story in this recent Forbes article. A huge thank you to everyone who made this event possible—especially Stephanie Roach for organizing, Lisa Dubuque Wood for facilitating the SCAD connection, and Lukas Opperman ’28 for capturing the day.
