RISE! is an evening celebrating Austin’s Black freedom communities.
The event will feature an excerpt from the film Rise, followed by a panel discussion exploring the rich history of these communities that emerged in Austin after emancipation and Juneteenth, the importance of fostering unity, and stories from the descendants of Austin’s Black freedom communities.

Headwaters LGBTQIA+ families are invited to gather for a casual and supportive meet-up at Cosmic Coffee. This event, organized by Caroline Roesel, K-1 parent, is an opportunity to connect with other families in the school’s vibrant rainbow community, build relationships, and celebrate the strength and resilience of LGBTQIA+ families. All families with a member of the LGBTQIA+ community are welcome—come as you are and bring your loved ones!
