Falling In Love with the Creek Garden

Headwaters School
We are delighted to share some exciting updates about the transformation of our Creek Campus garden!
This beloved space has always been home to hands-on learning, and recent enhancements are making it even more dynamic and engaging for our students.

New Additions to the Garden

Our garden now boasts several exciting new features:
  • Limestone raised beds now surround the yurt, offering students more space for planting and exploration.
  • An outdoor learning lab provides opportunities for immersive, hands-on learning experiences.
  • A new storage shed conveniently houses garden tools and materials.
  • The expanded fence line increases the garden’s boundaries, creating more space for activities.
  • A sink for easy clean-up helps students tidy up after garden projects.
  • A grand new entrance welcomes everyone into this vibrant learning environment.

Thank You to Our Community

These improvements wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and hard work of our gardening community. We extend special thanks to our Gardening Guide, Lucille Berrones, whose year-round commitment keeps the garden thriving. We are also deeply grateful to our volunteers who contributed their time and effort over the summer and on Thursday workdays to prepare the garden for the school year.

What's Next for the Garden?

We’re not stopping here! Future plans include adding a potting table, additional limestone raised beds, trellises for vertical gardening, and a serene native prairie and peace walk. These enhancements will further enrich our garden lab and program, creating more opportunities for students to engage with environmental learning.
We look forward to seeing the garden continue to grow and thrive with your ongoing support!
