Phase-In Starts for Springs Campus

Springs Campus (Early Childhood) 6305 Menchaca, 78745
Our Phase-In schedule will begin on Tuesday, August 20. Phase-In is designed to facilitate the smoothest transition for your child, you, and the Headwaters' community. Depending on the age and level of the child, we have different phase-in schedules for each child. Phase-In schedules were sent to all Springs families the first week of June.

Most often I have parents asking why we do phase-in for our students. Like many other Montessori programs, phase-in serves as a stabilizing period in which the children and teachers get to know one another. During this gentle transition, we foster security and comfort in a small group before the whole class meets. Each visit your child makes to campus will make them more comfortable. In fact, we hope that they won’t want to leave! The end result is far less tears at drop-off each morning.

Even returning students are greatly supported by Phase-In. Children often look forward to returning to school or starting a new school experience. However, as they walk over the threshold of the classroom, the jitters may develop. New faces, new teachers, and new work can all contribute to a sense of insecurity. Every child needs a chance to reconnect and find their sense of comfort in the environment. This provides them the time they need to adjust and successfully begin their learning journey for the year. For these returners, it also fosters leadership in the classroom as they help support peers who are new to the classroom.

Our Phase-In process demonstrates our respect for each child and their emotional journey as they return to school. As children progress through the year, their initial experience is the foundation for their success throughout the year.

We thank our parents for supporting the Phase-In process and helping us make every child’s entry into our school environment a safe, happy and enriching learning experience.
