River | Vision, Hearing, and Scoliosis Screening

River Campus
These Annual Vision & Hearing Screenings are covered by tuition and will be administered to required students each year in the fall semester.

All results will be uploaded in the Nest and you will be notified in the Weekly Update when available.

**IMPORTANT: IF YOUR CHILD WEARS GLASSES OR CONTACTS, PLEASE MAKE SURE THEY BRING THEM TO THE SCREENING.
The Special Senses and Communication Disorders Act requires that schools show proof that vision and hearing is done on students in grades Primary (4-years-old by September 1 of this year), K, 1, 3, 5, 7 and all new students. This screening is encouraged for grades 2, 4, 6, and 8-12. The school is also mandated by Texas Civil Statutes Article 4477-70 to show proof that spinal screening has been done on females ages 10 and 12 and males age 13. The screening is encouraged for all students 10 years of age and older. You can read more about these requirements here and here.

We have again chosen Tacquard & Associates to perform the screenings on campus in November.

**IMPORTANT: IF YOUR CHILD WEARS GLASSES OR CONTACTS PLEASE MAKE SURE THEY BRING THEM TO THE SCREENING

Please Note: The Spinal Screening requirement is based on assigned gender at birth. Headwaters School understands your student’s gender may not be their assigned gender at birth and we are making efforts so that this required state process is not distressing. If your student needs support or feels uncomfortable, please let us know by emailing registrar@headwaters.org. All student medical information is kept confidential.
